Antique Terracotta Flooring
in 20 x 20cm (8” x 8”) tiles x 2.5cm (1”) nominal thickness
in 15 x 15cm (6” x 6”) tiles x 2.5cm (1”) nominal thickness From farmhouses to chateaux antique terracotta tiles were hand made and fired in wood burning kilns across France in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Pinker varieties were found around the Loire region, whereas darker,
richer ones were fired in Burgundy. Likewise the earth and firing
techniques in the Provence region produced a more muted and at times
buff yellow tile. Due to the nature of antique materials tiles will vary from batch to batch.
Ideal for use in kitchen and conservatories; we now reclaim the rarest as
well as the most popular. |
