Versailles panels
In the late 17th century King Louis XIV of France replaced the marble tiles at his palace in Versailles with a new design
of elegant timber panels. Laid throughout the palace's grand "Hall of Mirrors" this classic look came simply to be known
as 'Versailles'. It has since then and to this day popularised geometric wooden flooring. We have reproduced, using both
antique and aged timber, a range of these famous floors. Our panels are manufactured by a traditional method,
assembled by means of mortice and tenon joints and pegged. We do not use glue. We can provide our panels in sizes on
demand, within the bounds of the design feasibility. False "tongues" necessary for laying are provided with every panel
order. These can also be laid down with “navettes” that we can supply made to measure according to the size of the
panels. Typical
panel dimensions: Thickness 1.5cm, 1.8cm, 2.0cm or 2.2cm
Width 98cm (100cm for Octagonal panels)
Length 98cm (100cm for Octagonal panels)
