Blanc Rose Terracotta in
20 x 20cm (8” x 8”) tiles x 2.5cm (1”) nominal thickness
in 16 x 16cm (6” x 6”) tiles x 2.5cm (1”) nominal thickness
History: From
farmhouses to chateaux, antique terracotta tiles were hand made and fired in wood burning kilns across France in the 17th and
18th centuries.
Character:
Pinker varieties were found around the Loire region, whereas darker, richer ones were fired in Burgundy.
Likewise the earth and firing techniques in the Provence region produced a more muted and at times buff yellow tile.
Ideal for use in kitchen and conservatories; we now reclaim the rarest as well as the most popular. |
